Karagez Di Ca`Bastiani

Kara`s other ligament broke summer -09. The knee was operated using TTA-surgery. The time after surgery was difficult because Kara is used to move a lot and he got easily bored, so 6 months in little cage was not nice for him.. Of course he got to go first very short and then little longer walks but he was forbidden running or jumping. The recovery went anyway OK, even it was stressfull.

During this year after the surgery, operated leg has been problem few times. Since before the operation Kara was working in the yard but this he could not do anymore because it was big pressure for the leg. Anyway I still got to enjoy his company when we made walks to the field, city and he was spending lot time inside the house. These moments will live in my heart forever, not the sad ones..

Every time the leg was in pain, I took Kara to the vet because I got always scared that something bad was happening and he would need another operation. But the leg was okay again when Kara just stayed without moving week or so.

Then 1 month ago Kara was inside the house by night. At morning he did not step to the leg that was operated. Once again, I took him into vet. We took again x-ray picture etc. but there was nothing in the picture. Kara got again Rimadyl and I was happy: everything is going to be okay! Just keep him resting again and it will be good.

But time went by and the leg was same.. he started to use it little more but was limping all the time. He was again living in the small cage and I kept him company as much as I could.

Then came the day Kara started to limp the other backleg too. Oh I wish this day would never come :( This is actually difficult for me to even write.. but the other leg was in pain too. So again to the doctor, to hear that the other ligament was now broken. So at this point Kara had 2 backlegs which he could not use. It was horrible to look him trying to even walk. But that`s not all.. the operated leg made nasty sound when he stepped on to it. There was meniscus damaged and needed operation also. The already operated leg did not handle the pressure it was getting now when Kara tried to use it as much as he could, to keep balance to other leg. I took Kara to 2 doctors which made same diagnos.

These things are every dog owner nightmare. What to do, what makes sense and what is best for the dog. Not you but the dog who can not decide. What is best for the working dog who is used to move, to guard. Kara would need about year to recover from these operations but the big problem was: which leg will he use after the other one is operated first and the other one is sick too? And if the operated leg could not handle living now, why would it be okay after second operation. No, it was madness..

So I decided to let him run, forever.

I could write here long stories how unfair I feel, how desperate, sad.. but they say time heals and I am waiting.

Unfortunately Kara broke his other ligament and was in surgery (TTA) on July -09.

Nowadays he is healthy and fast boy, most of the time but the leg has also been little tricky :(

suurimman osan ajasta mutta ikävä kyllä jalka on myös oireillut tämän vuoden aikana :(

Karagez has been growing into excellent dog. During 6 months, his character has been changing and his appearance too.

From the very beginning, Kara has been like iron nerve, I can always trust him no matter where we go. As he comes older, he is showing more his temperament but he is still very stable guy and easily controlled by me, I don`t think that will ever change.

Everything that I write about his character, sounds just so lame. The fact is, Kara has that kind of character people always tell about central asians: he is guardian but outside his territory, he is so calm, self-confident, stable, friendly to people.

He has million years long patience toward female dogs but males he does not like - not at home, not anywhere.

I am just so lucky to own dog like him, I really wish that he leaves character like his to his children.

Kara on miehistynyt kovasti, etenkin viimeisen puolen vuoden aikana - niin fyysisesti kuin henkisesti.

Alusta alkaen Kara on ollut oikea rautahermo, luotan koiraan todella paljon eikä ole koskaan tarvinnut sitä katua. On mukavaa kuljettaa Karaa mukanani koska hän viihtyy paikassa kuin paikassa, kunhan saa olla mamman kanssa :)

Nyt kun ikää kertyy lisää, Kara on näyttänyt enemmän temperamenttista puoltaan mutta hän on edelleen tosi tasainen luonne sekä helppo hallita, en usko näiden asioiden koskaan muuttuvan.

Vaikea kirjoittaa tänne hänen luonteestaan, kaikki kuulostaa niin perus hehkutukselta ja ainaiselta lätinältä mutta fakta on että Karalla on juuri sellainen luonne, mitä ihmiset aina sanovat kun tulee keskiaasialaisista puhe: vartija, joka kodin ulkopuolella on rauhallinen ja tasainen luonne, itsevarma, ystävällinen ihmisille.

Kara on loputtoman kärsivällinen narttukoirille mutta uroksia ei siedä. Urosaggressio ei silti ole missään vaiheessa ollut ongelma vaan täysin hallittavissa.

Välillä joku kysyy minkälainen Kara on luonteeltaan ja silloin tulee olo, ettei osaa kyynelehtimättä pukea sanoiksi sitä kiitollisuutta mitä koen omistaa tällainen koira. Toivon suuresti että Kara jättäisi luonnettaan tuleville jälkeläisilleen.
